Writing Class

I finished my last day of a Community Education creative writing class (I took it with my friends Debbie & Susan). The teacher was local author Annette Lyon, and she was fabulous. I learned a ton & because of one of her exercises I was able to get some inspiration for a new story. Love it.

At the end of the course they have a big "showcase" where all the teachers pick people to give a little presentation. There are all sorts of great classes: couples ballroom dancing, song writing, a bluegrass band. All of them sound like a lot of fun.

Susan & I were both asked to read a homework assignment we wrote. It was a compliment that my writing stood out enough that I was asked to read it, but I am NOT a public speaker. It was nerve wracking, but a great experience. Thanks to Scott for pretty much making me do it (And, yeah, I don't know what's up with my face in this pic)

Afterward, Scott took me out to Mexican to celebrate. It was nice to have a confirmation that someone other than Scott likes my writing. He's a good critique-r & is honest with his advice/opinion, but we're married & he's pretty much required to tell me I'm brilliant.

  1. Well done on getting your work picked. It always rocks when someone likes your writing.
Glad you got an idea for a new story too. I have major writers block just now so am away to try a few things myself for some inspiration.

  7. BRAVE!! I had to do that in a class of 20 people, which was bad enough. Can't imagine reading to a crowd. Good job! PS--I LOVE that you're so dedicated to your writing. I wish I could catch the fire again. I want to be like you when I grow up!
