The Book Thief
is NOT an easy read, but it's worth it. The book follows a cast of eclectic characters through holocaust Germany, but the most interesting aspect is that the narrator of the story is Death.

I had the privilege of seeing the author, Markus Zusak, speak last night. And to our whole groups surprise, he is not an 70 year old man (like we imagined him) but a ridiculously young Australian guy.
And, you guys, he is a New York Times #1 best seller, award winning author but I have not heard a more humble, self deprecating author in my life. Not to mention a very inspiring, funny, emotionally charged speaker.
If you ever have a chance to listen to him speak- GO, you won't be disappointed!
If you haven't read The Book Thief, GO NOW!
If you have, what did you think?

Read this last summer. Took me a couple of tries to get into it, but when I did, I absolutely loved it. The author is not how I pictured him either!
Thanks so much for the link! I love your post. It's a really great recap and how fun was that signing! Even standing in line for an hour. :)
love the face
That was an awesome book. And I'm with you--I had no idea he was a young Australian!
This was such a fun one to go to! I loved hearing what he had to say.
Yes it was fun. Becca and I were there till like 11:30 pm waiting to get our books signed! ha! But yes it was more fun than I thought it'd be.
I keep hearing about this book. Clearly it needs to go at the top of the stack by my bed!
The author is so cute. Is he single, by any chance?? =)
I am telling you...you look skinny in your photos. Way to keep up the good work...we need your last challenge points
One of my favorite books that I read last year. Took a little while to get into but then LOVED it!
Don't know much about him or his book, but he himself is pretty hot...
