Life in Instagrams

Here are a couple pictures of our day-to-day life through the lens of my cell phone:

P.S. Yes, Instagrams is now available on Android- it was a happy, happy day for me.

Holga Shots: Baby Love

Rob asked if I could bring Linc to his preschool class so he could show his friends his new little brother.

Ms. Rebecca asked him, "Tell us a couple things about your brother."
Rob considered for a moment & answered, "He's cute."
Then he paused & added, " And he whines"

Yup, it's true, he does whine.
But he sure is cute.

P.S. Enjoy other Holga shots here.

Holga Wetlands Pictures

The day we went to the wetlands I took some Holga pictures. Unfortunately, I only had a couple shots left (I'm definitely going back to take some more) but here they are:

I sure love those kids of mine.

Thrifted Turquoise Cowboy Boots

Yes, it's true, at the thrift store yesterday I found these lovelies.

And, yes, I wore them to church today.

And, yes, I love them so much that I'm this close to sleeping in them tonight.

Headstones

Call me creepy, but I love cemeteries.

Something about all the names, dates, epitaphs bring out the storyteller in me.

I found my very favorite headstone ever at the Provo Cemetery yesterday:

I love the red stone & the shape. And that's all before you get a good look at the lovely fonts. And look at those fingers pointing to where each person is buried. It's like a billboard for a circus.

Second favorite would have to be this one:

Because if Scott & I go together, all I want our headstone to say is "Olivia & Scott". Because, I think it sums us up rather sweetly.

Capturing their lil Personalities

I am so blessed to have two very sweet, but very different babies. There are things that definitely make them siblings: they make the same jokes, say the same weird "Carter-isms", even have similar facial expressions.

But at their core they are very different souls.

One of my favorite aspects of photography is capturing how different they are.

Syd loves attention. She seeks it out and relishes when she's in the thick of it. She's girly in a way I never really remember being. She loves all things pink and frilly. But she also likes to play with the boys, though not get dirty. She has an intensely artistic side and is completely self centered. She loves potty jokes & eats meat like it going out of style.

My Berto Bear covers his eyes when people are looking at him. He is very sensitive to peoples feelings & will sacrifice so that others are happy. But he's also extremely aggressive, like a little tank. He will bowl you over if you get in his way. His sense of humor is very dry & subtle. We often don't even realize when he's joking until he cracks a smile.

P.S. Another example is the picture from the Dora post. Syd is sitting dramatically distraught while Berto climbs miles above her unafraid of falling. But they both sure like being naked!

I like me some Photoshop

Contrary to the P.S. in my last post I don't have any Photoshop skillz. I'd love to take a class sometime but for now I'm just grateful I know a couple basics so I could somewhat counteract the dreery weather & my bad photography.

Befores & Afters:

They are also a totally groovy couple, big fans of 70's music, so I tried to "vintage-up" a few for them that they ended up really liking.

Easter Outfits

Sunday I took some pics of the kids in their Easter outfits. I knew the sun was all wrong (bright 2 pm sun) but I also knew there was no way I'd get them back in their clothes when the sun was right (about 6 pm) so we did it anyway.

I also took a couple with my Holga. By the time it got pulled out the kids were done with pictures (I have about a 3-5 min window) but I got a couple okay ones.
