Does anyone out there like "Prison Break"?

Okay, Scott's family loves this show "Prison Break". They've been trying to get Scott & I to watch it FOREVER. So, for Christmas they bought us Season 1. We have watched 8 episodes & I have to say I'm not sure about it. It's kind of like watching a car crash it's horrible & violent but I'm morbidly curious. It's really violent. Plus I didn't realize it until recently but I'm really freaked out of prisons. Anyway, someone... somewhere... tell me it gets better because right now it's good but it might be a bit much for me. You can pick up your own copy here.

Your dad and I watched "Prison Break" once a couple of months ago, and that was enough. Too violent, too dark, too unrealistic. A guy breaks into prison, and the show about that goes on for two or three seasons? That's too long to suspend disbelief, unless it's a comedy.

Chad watches it faithfully, and I have watched bits and pieces here, but it is really too violent for me. I will have to have him give you his opinion...

In defense of the show, the Prison portion is the most violent. I watch it because I got hooked on the DVD's and feel like I need to justify all of that time spent and ride it out (Very similar to how I feel about "Life" the new show on NBC). The plot ends up getting a little silly (SPOILER) as Michael ends up in a Panamanian prison with 4 or 5 guys from the First season, including the Lead Guard - Billick. My thoughts are that it is a lot better than most of the stuff on TV right now, but I have to fast after every episode to feel good about myself.

On a side note, with all due respect Olivia, no one and I mean no one is more terrified of prisons than I am. I have seen "The Shawshenk Redemption" one too many times. Guys like me are passed around as currency in prisons. I would go for 2 packs of smokes and a shiv in most prisons.

On a side note, the show "Arrested Development" has the most hilarious scene where this kid (George Michael)is watching TV, thinking he is watching "The Wizard of Oz", when in reality its the HBO show "OZ" about prisons - Hilarious scene - He freaks out - Olivia that is one show you need to get through Netflix or Blockbuster (Arrested Development, not OZ)- incredible!!!!

Hahaha! Okay, I feel better about it. It's a guilty pleasure & I died laughing about you "fasting" after watching it. It's TOO true! We are now about 10 episodes in & its better.

I saw 1/4 of an episode of "OZ" (not knowing what it was about) & I think it might be where my fear of prisons stemmed from.

I've had Arrested Development recommended to me by a couple people. But, hey, if you & Katie like it then it's got to be good. We seem to have similar-ish tastes in TV. I need to check it out!

Glad to hear it's getting better. Esther and I bought the first season about a month ago (in the middle of re-watching every season of 24 so we haven't watched it yet) based on some good reviews and very limited viewing. I've been wanting to see it for a while but just never got around to it with all my other tv shows. So with no 24 this winter we'll have to settle in to Prison Break.

Dave and I are total Prison Break fans---watch it online if we miss the regular network showing---who woulda thunk they could keep escaping for 3 seasons!
