Pink Paint

For anyone who has been to our house knows that Syd's room has been in DIRE need of a paint job. The last people who lived here HOT GLUED wall paper onto her wall- a VERY not Sydney combo of cowboy bandannas & horses. We have slowly peeled and stripped it off FOREVER, but when April came she got down to business sanding, toxic spraying, & eventually getting it all ready for painting.

We let Syd pick out the color she wanted & she went for "Sleeping Beauty Pink". It's really a color you MUST see in person. It's rich & it looks AMAZING against the gray we painted the dining room just outside her bedroom.

Rob was a pretty decent helper, but we really need to give Mama Carter a shout out because it wouldn't have happened without her & her mad painting skillz!

I'm a paintin' fool!

So far my week has been overrun with paint buckets & messy brushes!

My fabulous mom-in-law is a master room painter & since she was in town we finally got started on the gray I've been meaning to paint our front rooms.

The first gray we got was too blue & too light, so we took it back to darken it & un-blue-ify it. The paint mixer guy deemed it, "OliviaCarterGray". So behold our custom gray:

Incomplete, but you get the idea. I'm loving it! Don't say you hate it or my aching back & sore knees will kill you while you sleep.

We just have to finish it up, hang up our art, & then it will finally start to feel more "us".

"Someday..." Prints

These are just gorgeous, fun, & with such a great message for kiddos & adults alike- YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO.

I can't even pick a favorite. I'll just have to take them all!

Coveting Kids Rooms

Syd & Rob's rooms are really lookin' for a makeover. I have about 300 other projects for the house before I can get to them, but it doesn't stop me from browsing & coveting kids rooms on Ohdeedoh.

Here are a couple of my favs:

Lovely, lovely SanFran goodies

There are SO many reasons I wish I lived in the San Francisco area: its closer to family, a beautiful city, tasty ethnic foods, & lovely museums.

But right now it's because I love this girls style & since she's moving to France she's selling some of her lovely furniture. If I were there (& could afford it) I'd buy up everything she's selling:

Stripes Explained

Okay, I feel I need to explain. The cute wall of the previous post... NOT the way I wan to paint my stripes (though adorable in that room)

Examples of what I don't want:

Here are a couple of what I do:

See, subtlty. I'm looking at one shade lighter stripes. Just something that just adds a little bit of interest to the wall, especially because our walls are huge & a tad imposing. Some stripes might just liven it up. I'm considering... & thinking of ways to bribe, handsome.

P.S. my friend Smithy has a perfect example of good stripes.

Fanastic Room Re-Design by MADE

For those of you who have never been graced with visiting the blog MADE, go now & look. I actually had to kick her off my googlereader for a while because I was getting so jealous of her creativity & mad skillz (so prepare yourself for envy, envy, envy)

Case in point, this lovely redesign of her daughters room.

I know, do you just want to die? Anyway, she's done a couple blogs with specific instructions on how they did it & it is just a little girls dream. Heck, it's a big girls dream.

She has inspired me to talk Scott into doing something more risky when it comes to painting (we're going to try to get some done this weekend) & maybe, maybe do some stripes somewhere.

Infact, everyone comment on how stripes would be the bomb, maybe a little good ol' peer pressure will convince him!

Pretty Pink Outdoors

Can I say, that this is what I want to do with the outside of our house. Just look at this plan from Making It Lovely (a lovely blog, by the way) for the outside of her house.

Before & After. How cute it that?!? I mean, really, it's like art but with plants. I love it.

Then look at how they decorated their front porch. I mean, that pink patio set alone is enough to make me swoon. Seriously could you just die!

And while I've been pontificating about the gorgeous light pinks & light greens I saw this on Bleubird Vintage (another great blog). Oh. My. Heck. That's all I can say about that.

So, I haven't even mentioned this to Scott for fear he'll just laugh. Which I can't really blame him for... if he told me he wanted huge bronze sculptures of deer & eagles outside our house I'd hands-down refuse.

Gray Matter

I'm blown away by how many various shades of gray exist.

I've narrowed it down to these nine:

What do you guys think?

Liberty of London at Target

Have you guys seen the new Liberty of London line at Target?

Oh my... take my breath away. Lovely. Normally I'm NOT a fan of such busy prints but it must be the color or I don't know what but these are just fab-u-lous.

They had a cute teapot in the store that they don't have online in this print...

And, oh, how I need it.

I tried on the dress (the one above on the right) & I definitely DON'T need it. It looked down right nasty on me. Shame.

Runner's up to the teapot: this bike & this bedding (which looks weird in the pic but was gorgeous in person)

Is anyone else digging Liberty of London?
