Terrible Covers of Good Books

The most resent book in this series Vampire Academy just came out & I felt compelled to recommend these books. They are young adult books, but it's a fun, fast, interesting read with a strong female lead character.

However, the covers are HORRID! I mean, embarrassingly TERRIBLE! I feel awful for the author. I judge books by their covers, luckily I got the first one from Audible so I didn't really see the cover to dissuade me from my purchase.

Basically, what I am saying is these are good books. I'd check them out. AND am I the only one who TOTALLY & sometimes SOLELY judges a book on its cover?

I often pick up books or put them down based on their covers. I think the cover is there for a reason! It should be an accurate representation of the book!

I totally judge books by the cover. At least I try not to judge people by how they look, and that's the best I can do. PS LOVE these books! Ignore the cover.

yep, if the cover is ugly, i don't even read the back. I do the same with movies too

I judge books by their covers and had actually decided NOT to read those b/c of the covers! Maybe I'll give them another go round.

I have HUGE issues with book covers.

Mostly, it's books like the ones you've shown where they decide to use real people on the front. Unless it's the author (like a self help book) I just dont like seeing real people. I know, it's weird.

Plus I love reading mysteries and romances. Romances, in my opinion, by far have THE worst covers.

My sister Katie posted about this one time in reference to an OSC book. I hate when a good book has a sleasy cover that I feel like I have to hide.

The covers look like a soap opera... so yeah, it would make me steer away from them too! But maybe I will read them whenever I get time to read... whenever that is.

I helped set up a new Walden Books in the new mall in Provo and I did the romance section... boy oh boy were some of those covers cheesy. But I thought Danielle Steele had it right, the covers alway has her name big and like a outline of something that represented the title. No people, no cheesyness, you could read it on a plane without feeling like you had to hold the book flat to your lap to keep other people from seeing your cover that makes your book look raunchy, whether it is raunchy or not. Kind of like these covers... sure the book may be good, but I don't want people SEEING me reading a book with these covers.
