Not Public PJs

So, I really don't like "characters" on kids clothes. Right now Syd couldn't care less, so I dress her like I want until she can choose for herself.

The one area this rule doesn't apply is pajamas. No one sees them & for Sydney it's practically like playing dress up to wear Princesses on her shirt. Come on... she's cute... even with characters on her shirt.

How do you guys feel about characters on clothes? I'm weird, right? I knew it!

I'd LOVE to be anti-licensed characters, but James' family is HUGELY into them, so it woulds be too big of a battle to be worth it. Sigh.

I had to laugh about this because I am EXACTLY the same. No characters on day-time clothes, but pjs are okay. The only clothes you will see my kids wearing with characters on them are from Chad's mom (Lightening McQueen sweatshirts with their names embroidered on them. Holy Moley) so I kinda have to let them wear them.

If it is hand-me-downs or a gift I don't care about characters, but I generally don't buy them. Roy's mom loves to buy the kids shirts from different places she goes. Most of them have annoying sayings like "feed me and no one gets hurt" or "if you think I'm spoiled you should see my mom" or "I've got my daddy wrapped around my finger". Ugh. Most of these shirts are cheaply made though, so they end up being pjs when they start getting worn out.

No characters on kids clothes... I don't want to lead them down the path that leads them to tweety bird tatoos.

What a good idea to allow them for pjs, though. I call that "picking your battles." Nice

I also prefer character-free clothes most of the time. However, if the clothes look good enough, I sometimes go for it (that usually means not splattered all over with excited characters...). I bought my 2 y-o son a set of Cars clothes, and the pair of jeans that came with it is really nice, with all sorts of little cool patches over them.

I draw the line at comforters and general kids' room deco, though - no character deco. We bought Xavier the Cars toddler bed when he got to that point, but I never added the image stickers on it: just a solid red bed was all I wanted.

I don't generally buy them for my kids but if we get them as gifts it's no big deal.

Now my 5 year old begs me for Hannah Montanna and High School Musical (stuff she'd never seen before!!). So she has one of each now.

I think they're pretty tacky for adult clothes, but I don't think they're so bad for kids' clothes. I guess it depends on the character(s) and how cheezy the design is. Sometimes they can be cute. That said, you'll never go wrong SANS characters.

I'm totally with you Olivia. I do NOT like characters on kids clothes, but I have been known to make a few expections for pajamas--just can't resist the kids excitement!

My kids almost never wear characters. I never even would let my boys wear shirts with dump trucks on them or dinos. Nolan likes skulls, and those are A-okay with me! No Mickey, no Diego, no Sponge Bob... but a skull and cross bones, bring it on!

My girls are into Hannah Monatana though, so I do have a few of those shirts for them, and character PJs... but at that Nolan wears adult size Halloween clearence shirts to bed. But yeah, PJs are fine and dandy, but in public I am anti-character if I can help it!
