Homemade Lip Gloss

For our Young Women's activity this week we talked about not backbiting, gossiping, or using bad language and then made lip gloss.

The girls are supposed to remember the lesson whenever they pull out & use the gloss (since its things that come out of your lips- get it, get it!)

Here's how we did it:

1) I had to find containers. This is MUCH harder than I thought it would be. I finally found small snap cap containers used to hold paint (in the paint section of Micheal's)
2) Melt Vaseline (not hot just more liquidity so its easier to mix) like a minute or so
3) I had a bunch of flavoring (strawberry, cherry, almond, butter cream, & vanilla)
4) I little scrappings of lipstick to add color to the gloss (I also had glitter for those who like a lil' flash)
5) Mix it all up & put it in the container.

What a great idea!!! We actually had a ward wide lesson with the adults on gossip because I guess it's been a problem in our ward. How sad is that? (Note...I have no idea what the gossip was about. Really I don't) I may just pass this idea on to our YW.

i saw an article in Real Simple once about this (it was actually more about how to use the last tid bit of lipstick). It also talked about salvaging crushed eyeshadow and turning it into a cream eyeshadow.

How funny--I just babysat a girl in my ward who made lip gloss at school or girl scouts or something. (She's only 8.) They used Kool-Aid powder to give it color.
