Headstones

Call me creepy, but I love cemeteries.

Something about all the names, dates, epitaphs bring out the storyteller in me.

I found my very favorite headstone ever at the Provo Cemetery yesterday:

I love the red stone & the shape. And that's all before you get a good look at the lovely fonts. And look at those fingers pointing to where each person is buried. It's like a billboard for a circus.

Second favorite would have to be this one:

Because if Scott & I go together, all I want our headstone to say is "Olivia & Scott". Because, I think it sums us up rather sweetly.

Well I cant lie...Thats interesting! =) That reminds me of this family on Wife Swap. They liked to go have picnics in the cemetery and were total goths. They wouldn't let their kids cut their hair or wear colored clothes. It was odd!! Not that I think you are like that though because we know you love some color!!

This would be fun to do on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
When I was in High School we would go to a friend's house that was right by the cemetary. And we would play in night games in the cemetary. It was fun! Oh the memories!

Totally love cemeteries. Drove across the country two different summers, visiting mainly libraries and cemeteries.
Such fond memories from the Monticello Cemetery.

Christie- YES! I meant to say that. My first "exploring cemeteries" memory was the Monticello Cemetery with Katie. Love it & miss it!

Olivia, I completely hear you! Have you ever been to Lake Town by Bear Lake? My great-great grandma was from there and the farm she grew up on had its own little cemetary. There are the coolest pioneer graves there, very different from the run-of-the-mill gravestones you find today.

I just love to wander through local cemetary with beautiful old church, the headstones are so lovely and old. But wish they had a circus billboard one like that. I always get some inspiration for writing or drawing whenever I walk by there.

Cool headstones! Ha ha, I wondered if you'd notice me blogstalking you :P I actually found your blog via the USA Today article about Babies, and stayed because I thought it was really cool you lived in Provo too. Yeah, I have some friends from my intro classes that were photography majors. They sure didn't fare very well in drawing either!

I love cemeteries too, as you know. When I Chad and I went to Asheville (NC) for our anniversary a couple of years ago, his mom mentioned that he had ancestors buried there, so we went to see their graves in the coolest old southern cemetery. It was just awesome. O Henry was buried there too.

You're not creepy. I love going to cemetaries too. To see what pieces of a person's life you can see on just their headstone, the dates. I am with ya. I just feel bad for stepping on them. ;)

DAd and I had our first 2nd date in the Provo cemetary. He fixed a card table with a cloth, KFC, candles & flowers...so romantic.

Olivia, I'm so happy I stumbled across your site. I'm a fellow cemetery lover, my favorites were the ones in the Salem and Boston area when I was living in the States. Can't wait to read and see more from you.
