Our Friend the Snake

We found a snake in our house & Scott is terrified of snakes. But like the manly-man he is he picked it up & took it outside.

The kids insisted he NOT kill it. They must have seen the murderous terror in Scott's eyes. So he didn't.

Two days later the SAME SNAKE was on our back porch. Sitting & waiting to come in. Scott saw it & like a manly-man he grabbed a shovel & chopped it's head off.

That night Sydney said the dinner prayer:

SYD: "Please bless that no more snakes will come & scare daddy. And please bless the snake daddy killed will go to heaven."

In the house!!! AAAHHHH....I think he deserved to die for entering into the house. My rule is if it comes into the house then it must die for trespassing! =)
Syd's prayer was too dang cute. You have to love the way kids think!

Apparently that snake thought your house was his! I have a friend who's sister lives in AZ. she went to go get dressed one morning and found a rattlesnake had decided to take residence amongst her shoes.....they later moved. You and your kiddies are super brave to want the snake kept alive. I would have been with Scott, off with his head!

I don't blame him. I wouldn't want it coming back.

We've never had a safe snake come in our house...only copperheads and rattlesnakes...I say kill first, ask questions later.

It must have been his childhood that scared him of snakes. We hiked the flume to catch one and brought it home. But it escaped and Traveler caught it in the bathroom. Sorry Scott! Look at all the things your parents did to you. But remember. Those snakes are harmless and eat stuff you really don't want in your house.

when it came back, i thought you were going to say you decided to adopt it. there's no way i could chop of a snake's head... for some reason that sounds really gruesome to me! blah

I'm a pacifist, but I'm on Scott's side. I grew up in Florida, and most snakes there aren't harmless. They do eat things, but occasionally what they eat is children and pets! Hooray for Scott for saving his children!

We killed a 6 foot black snake... we just could not let it live. Now I feel kind of bad about it... but I have teenie kids and I panicked. Poor Syd, what a sweet prayer though! My mom ran over a snake with a lawnmower once and when my dad came home and she felt like he was not that interested in her dead snake story she kicked it up a notch and exclaimed, "BUT DAD! I looked, and the snake had a baby in it's arms!" One of my moms favorite stories!
