Modern Art & double sided tape

The other day I was desperately trying to write. I had (have) major writers block & was desperately writing through it.

To keep the kids happy & busy, I tried to set up an art project."Come on guys! An art project! Right here, an art project! It's gonna be the coolest!" I was chanting, getting them excited: paints, paper, scissors, stickers all littering the table.

But Rob would have none of it. He stripped off his underwear and was wandering around my legs whining.

"I want something in my mouth"
"I want to watch a movie"

"I want to go swimming"

"When's daddy coming home?"

At this point I'm wanting to die. Then he says, "Can I have a piece of this?" & he holds up a roll of double sided tape.

"Sure" I answer completely distracted by the Word document opened on my screen. "Here." I hand him a quarter-sized piece & go back to typing. He wanders off for a good 10 minutes.

Then he's back. "Can I have another, please?"

"Sure" I hand him another one & I'm writing again.

If I'm being honest I don't know how many times he came up & asked for a piece. Or how many pieces I gave him. But when I finally fully paid attention this is what I found:

He took a bag of baby wipes (I had them under the bathroom sink, left over from when Rob was in diapers so they were old and dried out) & with the tape he put up each one on the wall in a pile.

"What is that?" I ask scratching my head.

And without skipping a beat he answers, "My art project".

Well, I'll be.

Picasso must have been like this when he was a boy. I think you should just write a book about your kids.
