Okay, I feel I need to explain. The cute wall of the previous post... NOT the way I wan to paint my stripes (though adorable in that room)
Examples of what I don't want:
Here are a couple of what I do:
See, subtlty. I'm looking at one shade lighter stripes. Just something that just adds a little bit of interest to the wall, especially because our walls are huge & a tad imposing. Some stripes might just liven it up. I'm considering... & thinking of ways to bribe, handsome.
P.S. my friend Smithy has a perfect example of good stripes.

My sister had some stripes in her house that were the same color (maybe a shade different) but alternated between flat paint and high gloss. It looked really cool.
I love the yellow and gold stripes. Good luck in getting handsome to help out.
why have i never been to your house?!
I agree. Subtly stripes are FABULOUS!! A friend of mine recently painted her little boys nursery and used stripes...it's turned out SO cute! They definitely add interest to the wall.

I love the stripes!! Check out what this blogger did: http://windhula.blogspot.com/2008/08/hall-pictures.html
I love stripes! My mother did the same thing as Mandi's sister. She did thinner vertical stripes in the foyer, and then wide horizontal stripes in the bedroom. Both used the same color for each stripe, but alternated flat and semi-gloss paint. When the sun shone in, it really popped!
I like subtle strips. That is what I wanted to do in Mirian's room, but we were just in too much of a hurry to paint the upstairs before we moved all of our stuff up. Maybe one day though.
I don't mind stripes in a bedroom, but not in the main living room... gahhh
I love the horizontal wide strips in the middle pic! That was is way cute!
