LaraBars

I'd like you all to meet my new favorite tasty & healthy snack: LARABARS. I try to have cut veggies or fruit for my snacks but sometimes it's nice to have one of these ready in my purse.

Just look at those ingredients. My favorite the Peanut Butter Cookie Bar & all it has in it is dates, peanuts, & salt. That's it. It blows me away.

I buy mine from CostCo because, like a lot of healthy preservative free snacks, they aren't cheap.

Any other LaraBar fans out there?
Any other healthy snacks you all love?

P.S. Apparently they are also recommened by the Biggest Loser people too.
P.S.S. I just found this recipe for making your own LaraBars. I'm SO trying this out- I'll let you know how it goes!

:)

my mom eats larabars because they are gluten free...they were just too much for me. and im pretttty sure those people on biggest loser where not enjoying the chewing of them...their faces werent very convincing.

Seth used to take them to work, but as a meal he'd have to take 2-3 and like you said.. they aren't cheap. Around here we eat alot of shelled sunflower seeds and handfulls of nuts, raisins and other dried fruits are a favorite along with anything picked from our garden.

light microwave popcorn - that's my filling healthy snack.

I got a bunch of larabar samples at a race I ran once - little bite sized ones. I took probably 20 or more of them! I thought they were only okay - I gave them to my mom for the reason Monica already mentioned.

Good to know--I'm going to check these out. I always see them at the store but I had not idea they were so wholesome. I'm a big fan of KIND fruit and nut bars, which are basically a bunch of almonds held together by dates (a pattern?) with various combinations of other nuts or fruits or seeds.

I looooooove LaraBars! They are my fav!!! I've tried creating them from scratch, but wasn't too successful. Let me know how you like the recipe you found! I also like making my own oatmeal bars as snacks throughout the day. I got this from http://weeklybite.com

Ingredients: 3 c. oats, 2/3 c. whole wheat flour, 1/2 t. baking soda, 1/2 t. salt, 1 t. cinnamon, 1 egg, 1/2 c. canola oil, 1/2 c. honey, 1 t. almond extract, 1/4 c. water **add in any extras like choc chips, nuts, dried fruit, etc.**

Directions: 1. mix dry ingredients and set aside. 2. in separate bowl, whisk egg, oil, honey, almond extract and water. 3. add wet to dry until combined. 4. spray pan with cooking spray and press in dough. 5. bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 min.
