Adjusting

We're adjusting over here in the Carter household- just the growing pains that come along with adding a new Carter to an already Crazy Carter Clan.

Rob & I are probably the slowest at adjusting. Rob is just big for his age & is stronger than he realizes. He's also super sensitive & something about that combination, plus a new baby, is not sitting well at the cusp of turning 5.

I'm getting over my first ever bout of mastitis & can't seem to slow down to catch up on my sleep. Help is starting to ebb & I can't get a hold of time (not that I ever excelled at it to begin with) & how long everything takes now adding a newborn to the mix.

The thing that makes everyone universally happy, even the slower to adjust members of the family, is Linc. He is the light of the Carter Casa. Seriously, this little guy brings us so much joy. Nothing, and I mean, nothing can chill out a restless family like a smiling-while-sleeping baby.

So, for those who have asked, we're good. Really good. Adjusting. Balancing. Rearranging. But happy as clams.

Happy as calms, wow, that is happy! That is like 3 steps up from "happy as clams." Love you!

I just typed a long comment on my phone and then pushed a wrong button and erased it. And our internet is down. Blah/ will try again later

yay for the carter boys. you seem to be doing so well! so, be sure to ask for help when you need it. I'm sure it's easier third time around, but seriously?

So, what I wanted to say earlier....

What was really hard for me the last two times, even though Chad was home to help me for weeks, was that I didn't want to have someone else doing stuff for me. Not that I can't accept help or that I am a control freak, I just wanted to be back in the action, doing my thing and feeling normal again! I wanted to be me again, not just someone who sits around all day and nurses (as lovely as that can be). And you are right, you feel so much better not having anything poking your ribs anymore that it is hard to remember that your body is still recovering.

And yes, Mastitis totally sucks. And yes, just like everyone says, rest is the BEST thing you can do. I hope it is almost gone by now!

Oh, and the whole getting ahold of time thing, I totally get that too. I would have to actually hold conversations with myself where I would say, "Okay Katie, how long do you REALLY think this will take to do? Now add 20 minutes. Nope, just trust me on this one. That is how long you need to give yourself." Chad thought I was a little crazy.
