California Dreaming

Sorry for the radio silence the past few days! We made a surprise trip to California to celebrate Mother's Day with Scott's lovely mom (who basically saved me after Linc was born).

It was quite a drive with 3 kids- not as bad as I thought it would be but it wasn't quite cake either. (Lunchables are the ULTIMATE travel food, says I)

Trust me, if you've never taken the drive between Utah, through Nevada, & into Northern Cali you haven't missed much. It looks a bit like this:

My handsome husband ordered a Mother's Day corsage for me before we knew we were leaving. But we picked it up early & I wore it pinned to my Foo Fighters t-shirt & rocked it through every pit stop. It was a Happy Mother's Day to me!

We had a lovely time in California- a family hike & a mother's pedicure outing (let's not discuss how I look like a boy).

We even got family pictures- which wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Here's the whole family, just my fam, & all the cousins together (man, my kids look HUGE & let's not discuss my terrible outfit that makes me look HUGE):

Scott flew out on Sunday so he could get back for work, but the kids & I stayed on to spend more time with the grandparents- thrifting, swimming, & generally have a blast.

I drove back on my own & let me say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but not as easy as I hoped. The kids watched movies, napped, & fought. A lot of all of them.

We even made a pit stop in Grass Valley, CA (my new favorite place). Linc wasn't happy about getting back in the car seat.

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day! I was endlessly grateful to be surrounded by my sweet babies who I adore to the moon & back. (And let's not discuss how many pictures it took to get Syd & Rob looking at the camera together).
