Love is a Battlefield

I've heard people say that when women give birth it's the closest they come to death. I think this is meant to basically freak all-women-across-all-walks-of-life out. Ridiculous & unhelpful.

Upon the birth of my lovely Lincoln Buckley, I have a new theory. I believe that being up-all-night-with-a-non-sleeping-baby, un-fixable crying, & trouble nursing is what brings women nigh unto death.

We're just coming out of that phase (fresh air finally!) And I made it out alive. That's the thing, you know you'll survive it even as you're in the trenches sloshing through it, so you do. You just survive. (with the help of friends, family, & partners. Also superficial novels & chocolate)

It ain't always easy.
It ain't always pretty.
But it's always worth it.

Ya, I feel much closer to death when I drive with Russell.

And yes, it is always so worth it! Linc looks a lot like Natalie when they are both asleep. Sometimes I forget that they are genetically linked...

It is worth it to drive with Russell?? I love sleeping babies. I just want to kiss that sweet little face. And he does look a lot like Natalie in this picture! Hooray for cute Carter genes.

Glad you got through it! Yes, it is so hard. I don't know if you have ever sat there in the dark and watched the minutes tick by and tried to make bargains..."Heavenly Father, if you make this kid sleep right now, I will _____." Those are the longest minutes/hours, and my bargains never worked.
