Goodbye plastic bags!

So, I have been wanting to use canvas bags at the grocery store but I was worried it seemed a bit pretentious: especially here in Utah. But today I used them & I didn't feel weird at all. It helped to have an especially cute one from Ikea!

I've decided I need to do this - but what if you have too many groceries, do you just use a plastic or paper bag for those extra items that don't fit? Especially because the baggers usually only put a couple things in each bag. Do they just adjust their bagging techniques to fit them all in?

Great idea to use the IKEA bag! I totally already have that same one and now I have a reason to buy another.

Hey, it's never pretentious to use canvas bags! It's smart & it shows you want to leave your children a cleaner world! I have four canvas bags in the trunk of my car. If I think that more items can go in a bag I just let the cashier or bagger know. If they're really busy I bag my groceries myself. I usually end up using only two bags because they hold so much more. As soon as I've put the groceries away I put the empty bags on the front door doorknob. That way I remember to take them with me the next time I leave the house.
