Optometry Schools

As some of you may know Scott will be applying for Optometry schools soon & some have asked where we will go (because it had better be close to them). I thought I'd let you all know where the ONLY optometry schools in the nation are (there is only one new one in Mona, CA opening in 2009).

I was in school (after 7 years of working in eye care)to get my pre-reqs to apply to OD school when I found out I was pregnant. That took a backseat to being a mommy, but I still want to do it one day. My choices for OD schools were Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Pacific College of Optometry, both PCOs!!

Good Luck!!

Wow, not many choices! When we got married we were in a ward with a ton of optometry students. (Southern Cali College of Optometry) Aaron and Jamie are living in that area now and I bet they have at least a couple of optometry students in their ward. So what are your top choices?

My husband Franco wants to be an opthalmologist--do these schools offer both? I know he was looking into USC and Fullerton, and actually one in Salt Lake! Maybe they'll end up in the same one... ;)

My dad went to Southern California for OD school in Fullerton, which is where I was born. I guess I'm a little partial to that one. Good luck!

BERKELEY! Yippee! Cheaper and closer to grandma & grandpa...free babysitting once in awhile.

Don't leave me! Why doesn't Utah have a school!!! :(

The new school is in POmona, CA, not Mona (which is different). I vote for Pacific University, which is about an hour away from us and would allow us to babysit often and spoil the grandkids shamelessly. Housing and food costs are cheaper here than in California, I can guarantee.

I have my fingers crossed for Berkley... I'll even take Fullerton! Oh I hope, I hope!

University of Houston is a good school. The Houston temple is awesome (slight personal bias, I guess), and there is a large density of LDS members around Pearland and other cities in the area. One of the local newscasters is a bishop, so you know you get some fair news coverage.
