I've got a thing for small towns. I don't know when it started but I know it solidified when I started watching Gilmore Girls (anyone else watch that show? I LOVE IT!) and saw Stars Hollow, CT.
In love... going to live there one day.... then I found out its a fictitious town. Curses!
I want to find a small town relatively close to a large city and have a thriving historic downtown. Plus Scott and I really want a house with character- no planned communities for us.
Anyway, on our Christmas trip we stopped by a cool small town Baker City, OR...
BUT, my ALL TIME FAVORITE is Grass Valley, CA...
Here is a list of the top 10 coolest small towns according to MSNBC
Does anyone else know of any other cool small towns?

I love cool small towns but I don't know if I could ever live in one - I love chain stores a little too much. Don't judge me for it, I love a good "mom and pop" as much as the next girl, but sometimes I want the predictability of Gap.
Hey, I went to the Gilmore Girls set, too. I took that same tour of the WB lot that she took. GG is my favorite show of all time! So in 07, I shelled out $120 for both my husband and I to visit Stars Hollow. They were unfortunately filming on the street where Lorelai's & Sookie's houses were so I didn't see those, but I saw and stepped into Luke's diner and saw the gazebo! It was amazing :) I love small towns, too. Sometimes I wish I could just live in one, just like Stars Hollow. Provided that Dean & Jess live there, too ;)
You should try my small town, New Braunfels, TX. Its great, we have walmart, target, other chain stores and restaurants. but then we also have all the small town charm-old buildings, the oldest bakery in texas, a gazebo in the center of town with a fountain. plus a world famous waterpark "Schlitterbahn"! We have lots of German flare (Wurstfest- the 10 day salute to sausage) and tons of mexican heritage and yummy mexican food. Plus we're so close to San Antonio and Austin (2 major airports). I love it here! (I guess you can tell by the long comment)
Oh yeah, GIlmore Girls is the best (except for season 6)
I think I might be worse than you! I wish I could live in Stars Hollow with all those people. I totally want to eat donuts and burgers at Luke's and gossip with Miss Patty and Babette.
I feel the same way about wanting a house with character over a planned community.
I love stars hollow and lorelai and rory and luke and jess (way better than dean or logan). I always thought that stars hollow would be perfect too...but I doubt that a town that happy and joyous truly exists! although, don't ever give up the search!

Ahh man, I love stars hollow. I like small towns but I need to be fairly close to a large city. (which I am not right now) And I think I'd prefer a planned community over a house with character - unless the house with character has been built in the past 5 years :) I'm not one for fixer-uppers.
Oh, Davis was a GREAT small town
Ok wait...have you actually been to Grass Valley ( except for stopping at In and Out? I would never want to live in that town....they have hillbilly canibals there.
Love
MOMC
Hi Olivia! I found your blog from Ashley's. So fun to see what you've been up to!! I'm so sad I missed you when you came for Christmas! We were in California, dang it! But I vote for the small town in OR! Selfish I know.
