Breaking News through Technology

Heard the news on Twitter:

Listened to commentary on MSNBC.com:

Watched President Obama speak on WhiteHouse.gov:

I am also grateful for amazing writers who can sum up how I feel when I can't quite articulate it myself:
"I've never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."

Characters on clothes...

So, I have a problem with CHARACTER SHIRTS (I wrote about this a while ago- but I mostly only buy characters on PJs).

So, this is the Spiderman shirt issue. I'm picky about the ones I'll let him wear. I like the more vintage looking shirts. There's just a difference between this one & this one...

Do you guys know what I mean or am I insane? I'm insane! I knew it!

Green Toilet

The other day I was in OfficeDepot. After meandering through pens, paper, notebooks, & rubberbands I headed to the bathroom.

When I opened the stall I was greeted with this...

The sign looks a little overly complex for me. If I made the sign it would look more like this...

P.S. The water saving toilet is actually a good idea. I dig it!

A good day

I had a good time with the kiddos and my mom at Target today. This is a miracle.
A while ago a friend mentioned that some of you may know that my mom was disabled by a stroke years ago. And therefore you may not understand the full gravity of posts like this one or this one. Going out and doing things with her & the kids is often not easy.

But you know what? I had a sort of sulky / whiny morning then brushed it off & made the decision to have a good day. Despite being a taxi for doctor appointments and hauling all of them through Target during what should be nap time for everyone I had a good day.

It's all about perspective, my friends.

Babydolls

Syd, Rob, & I went to the store the other day to play with toys and Rob & Syd mostly just wanted to hold these baby dolls up and down the aisles. I thought it was so cute.

I'm a firm believer in letting my babies play with whatever they want- "girl" toys or "boy" toys.

But I realize not everyone agrees. If you don't or do what's your reasoning?

Beauty and the Beast TV show

Did anyone else watch Beauty & the Beast the TV series? I've been asking around & I think I'm the only one, EVER... my mom & I, that's it!

Come on, someone tell me I'm not the only one?

Another example of how I don't understand siblings...

P.S. Sorry for the poor jumble-y quality. I was not looking. Just set the camera up over my shoulder.

Rob is saying "NO!" for no reason. Just saying it because Sydney is freaking out about it. Look at her loose it- pulling at her hair & whining. She has no reason to be bothered by it, but she is going crazy!

Siblings are SO WEIRD! Getting bothered by little things the other one does & continuously doing it just to drive the other one crazy.

Things I WON'T buy in generic brand...

1. Mac & Cheese... It's gotta be KRAFT Mac for me

2. Cream of Mushroom Soup- the generic stuff looks like barf (well, more than Cream of Mushroom soup already looks like barf)

3. Brownie Mix- I like they with super amounts of fudginess & preferably Ghirardelli brand.

4. DIAPERS: no matter what people say I can't find a good generic brand- they fall off my babies non-existent hips
Anything you guys won't by generic?

Inauguration Day

Regardless of if your guy won or lost you have to admit that this is an important and momentous time in our nations history.

We've got a new family in the White House & I hope we can all cross party lines in a hope for the best and in prayer for him & his family.

"Just take one dip and end it"

Okay, I've got a confession here... I'm a major double dipper. So much so that I don't even THINK about it. But a while ago my dear friend Cindy blogged about the grossness of double dippers and I realized, embarrassed, that I have done it at her house.

I want everyone to fess up here and now- who's a double dipper out there and who's not?
This way if I'm ever at a party at your house I'll know next time if I can or can't proceed with my bad habit.

Check out this awesome Seinfeld clip (gosh, I love that show)...

Stars Hallow

I've got a thing for small towns. I don't know when it started but I know it solidified when I started watching Gilmore Girls (anyone else watch that show? I LOVE IT!) and saw Stars Hollow, CT.

In love... going to live there one day.... then I found out its a fictitious town. Curses!

I want to find a small town relatively close to a large city and have a thriving historic downtown. Plus Scott and I really want a house with character- no planned communities for us.

Anyway, on our Christmas trip we stopped by a cool small town Baker City, OR...
BUT, my ALL TIME FAVORITE is Grass Valley, CA...
Here is a list of the top 10 coolest small towns according to MSNBC

Does anyone else know of any other cool small towns?

Chocolate Mix

Does anyone else love those Hershey Miniature Mixes? I love, love, love them.
But I totally pick out those Mr. Goodbar's first. I mean, they are SO YUMMY! BUT if they are so good, then why don't I ever buy just a Mr. Goodbar? In line at the grocery store, I'd pick out a Snickers or Kit-Kat but not a Mr. Goodbar. Do they just taste better in their mini form? Or maybe it's because you have them less often?

I don't know but those suckers are GOOD! Am I just weird?

The Village Jacket

I got this new jacket from Gap when they were having their "spring preview" sale. The other night it was snowing so I put my hood up. I caught a glimpse of my reflection and I realized it kind of looks like those capes they wear in the movie The Village.

I Can't Complain

I was sitting yesterday evening in the car grumbling to myself about all the snow. It snowed bucket loads in a matter of minutes & I looked out the window to see this...That dude is riding through the snow on his unicycle. Here I am nestled in my warm CR-V singing 'Old McDonald' with Syd & Rob, while this guy is literally trudging along on an apparatus meant for the circus.

Now, I know that this gentleman made the choice to own a unicycle & ride it to work this morning knowing of the multiple reports of inches of snow but still... can't help but feel pity for the fellow & feel better about my mode of transport through the snow.

i-Phone

No... I don't have one (I wish!). I'd take just about any phone to the one I have right now- it's horrible!

But my friend Linds has one & while visiting the other day she let Syd play some games on it. Leave it to her to be considerate enough to load 18 months- 2 years old games for her friends babies to play (yeah, she's that great).Anyway, Syd was in love. There is one called Adam's Game she dug until she saw the colored sea animals one. Whoa- she played it for like, what? An hour. I need to get me one of these babies for my babies!

Mysterious Sign

I pass by this sign at least a couple times a day & EVERYTIME I wonder what could have been written in that blank spot... is that weird?

Obviously something which necessitated removing it from a large sign on the side of their building. I guess they must not have the best **blank** in Utah anymore.

It's probably burritos, right? But what if it wasn't...

Could it be tax services? hummel figurines? cat grooming? Daily my mind goes wild with possibilities of what they are no longer "the best in Utah" at.

Any other brilliant insights as to what offerings they had which fell from grace in the eyes of Utahans?

I love me some PEOPLE magazine, but....

... this newest issue was a new low. The Sexiest Man Alive issue this year included a "scratch-n-sniff" section with pictures bare chested men that you are supposed to "rub", then smell their "sexy scents".

Is it just me or is this a tad (dare I say extremely) creepy? Eww... America kind of freaks me out sometimes.

Signs that it's cold outside...

The Carter family enjoys yummy treats like a Hot Chocolate Float (milk hot chocolate with a scoop of Peppermint ice cream) AND...... some nice person knit a sweater for the bus stop by BYU. How nice!

vergissmeinnicht

"You know the feeling: you want to tie a knot in your handkerchief so that you won’t forget something important and you can’t because you haven’t got a suitable handkerchief."
Man I get that feeling all the time. Thank goodness they made a product for just my problem. But seriously is this a cultural thing I don't know anything about?

Your movies are like kisses...

Dear Mr. M. Night Shyamalan ,

Do you remember back in the day? You know... The Sixth Sense , Unbreakable , Signs , The Village? Those were the days, huh? We laughed, we cried, but mostly you scared the CRAP out of me (& I loved it!). I miss those days... when you were courting my attention.

Then you brought me Lady in the Water ... I came with high expectations, ready to commit. Like an "okay" first kiss I was slightly entertained but mostly hoping the next would be better.

Then last week Scott & I watched The Happening. I was anticipating this encounter for MONTHS. And like a bad second kiss I wanted to love it. It had its moments, but what I really wanted was for it to END... & unlike the rest of our times together the ending was DEPRESSING. I was left with one question- do I even want to try again?

Let's approach this next movie like a GOOD kiss- you want to be a lil' scared & nervous, surprised by how good it is, have twists & turns, & in the end you want to be left satisfied but wanting more.

Three bad kisses in a row = a break up in my book.

Longing to love you again, Olivia
