So, this morning I ran a 5K run with my friends Smithy & Lay. We had a blast & I feel SO GOOD after it.
Pre-Race I tried out this "homemade energy drink" I heard the recipe on NPR a LONG time ago (it's supposed to be better & last a long time compared to canned energy drinks).
Here it is:
1 cup oats (mix it in the blender until a fine powder & I like steeled oats a lot too)
2 TBS os OJ concentrate (I didn't have any so I used orange juice)
6 oz strawberry yogurt
16 oz Diet Mountain Dew
1 cup strawberries (I just kind of eyeball a bunch in there-yum!)
Just blend it up & you're done!
Now, just keep in mind even blended into a powder the oats make the drink chunky. You'll chew the last little bit of the drink- yummy, I know.
Then we headed off the the race, which unfortunetly had only 25 runners max so we were in the back of the pack. Let's just not disscuss how far in the back we were- just not the VERY LAST.
Afterward we went to Zuppa's for a little fresh salad & yummy soup. We had a blast & I definetly want to train harder & do it again.

That is AWESOME! I am slowly slowly slowly training for a 5K. Don't know if I will ever actually compete in one, but I want to be able to run that far. I am still far far away, so I gotta hand it to you! Great job!
Good for you....i dream of being capabale of doing even a 1/4 mile run on my own...lol

I'd like to train to do a 5k. I was all set to do one in May and I didnt get to run it, but I did participate. Way to go on running! And having a fun day.
yay! I do miss that good feeling after a run!(well, after hacking all the crap out of my lungs). We should totally do a 5k together when I get back, my family used to do one every year together and I miss it!
You rock! I need an exercise buddy here in Yakima. It is so hard to be motivated to go exercise by myself. Good job!
How fun!! I'm trying to get myself in shape to run a race soon myself. My sisters are running a half marathon in November but I'm no where near that right now... :( Good job Liv!!! (So are you thinking Tahoe next year?!)
