Let them eat cake!

I've mentioned a couple times that winters get slow 'round these parts. I refused to let it make us lazy or boring so the other day we decided we needed a project. We settled on a colorful cake.

It took more time & was a whole lot more fun than making a plain ol' cake

And we won't discuss how much of that lovely colorful batter I ate.

But the kids had a blast & we all loved our final product!

How fun!!! I've never thought of coloring the cake batter. I'll have to give it a try sometime.

Russ- And when it's all frosted it looks like a normal cake until you cut into it & it's like BOO-YA! LOVE IT.

Jessica- Thrifted shirt but I ran upstairs to see the brand & it's "The Arizona Jean Company" brand but since I bought it at a thrift store it could have been from the 80's for all I know, but THANKS!

Susan- Oh you are nice to me. Greasy hair pulled back into a HUGE bun... but you are nice to me!

Debbie- Can I steal your brain?!? I'll bet yours is a lot more organized & sane than mine is!

Monica- My kids are crazy "help you make dinner kids" it makes dinner time take 5 times as long. UGH.

Anelieze- Please make it! So YUM! And make it w/ the white cake (no egg yoke) because it really makes the colors pop!

hehe what a fun cake! Worth the effort I think (and I won't ASK how much coloured batter you ate).

How are you not overweight? You are always making tasty treats and you look fantastic! Ugh!

Post Grad- Yes, we'll leave the exact # at TOO MUCH. And it was well worth the effort.

Joan- It does look a bit Dr. Susses-ish doesn't it?

Kristal- Oh gosh, you are nice. I thought I looked greasy. Well, I was. But thanks!

Ashley- I AM OVERWEIGHT. I need to stop eating treats! But truth be told I didn't eat any of the cake. I'm not a cake person. I did have some batter though. Had it been brownies the kids wouldn't have gotten a bite.

How very fun! Elizabeth wants white cake for her birthday next week. Wonder if I could convince her to do this instead!

So what do you do with all the leftover cake? And you may be a little overweight, but you carry it well. We've been planning to do this cake for Rae's bday - she can't wait. I saw it on my friend's blog ages ago and showed it to Rae.

Christie- Yes, Convince her. It's so fun & then like a little surprise when you cut into it.

Ashley- We are sharers in the Carter fam. Everyone had some, gave some to friends, then saved a little bit for a treat later. It really wasn't a huge cake either. It's a perfect birthday cake because it's just so over the top & fun! Hope she had a great birthday!
