At the BIG family Christmas party (with all of Scott's cousins from one side) all the little cousins did a nativity.
Berto was supposed to be a Shepard. But you know my Berto-Bear, he's gonna do what he wants.
So, before he was actually supposed to be on stage he wandered around (arriving a tad early to the nativity). The head shepard boy tried unsuccessfully to reign him in (do you see him trying literally with that stick on the left?)
Then when the time came to visit the Baby Jesus Rob stood there for about a second. Then...
... he wandered over to Scott (the narrator) & "helped" him out a little. Then...
... he hung out by Syd, a lovely & faithful "townsperson". And eventually he exited stage left, being done with the whole thing.
He kind of stole the show with his flippant cuteness.
And while a wandering shepard is cute, the real wandering Berto in Wal-Mart not so cute.
P.S. For you Mormons out there, doesn't he kind of look a little less like a shepard & more like a Nephite?

i bet at the first visit by the shepherds there were little ones wandering around wondering what all the hub-bub was about!
