Sydney has started to become OBSESSED with all things potty related. We were having an issue with all manner of grossness brought up at inopportune times. Poops, Farting, Pee, Rambo's diarrhea- it was all free game.
So, not wanting to deem these understandably interesting topics taboo I decided to institute the "potty talk rule". We can talk potty talk in the potty. So, if she has a question or something to say she can wait until we go to the potty or she can ask me to go to the potty with her so she can ask.
Brilliant right?
Well, what I forgot was that a lot of the time we're in public restrooms. So, we end up with her yelling in an echo-y very full of other people bathroom "Hey mom, poop is stinky sometimes and it sticks to our bums!" OR "Look mom! I can see corns in my poop!"
And, guys, that's tame.
It kind of reminds me of the Orange Poop incident. What can I say we're a "potty talk" kind of family?

HA! I still think your rule is a good one!
We've been trying to institute a similar rule. My son thinks it's ok to talk about poop and farting regardless of the situation.
We did that with spitting. "We only spit in the bathroom." So everytime we went to the bathroom they had to spit.
That is hysterical! Oh my gosh.
We have a similar rule, which is why when I went in to check on Little J the other day after he'd been in the potty awhile, I said, "Are you done?" and he replied, "Yes, I'm just saying some potty words." At least he got it out of his system!
that's great - i'm sure eavesdroppers love it
my fellow gnomy, i like the rule. those topics are my little ones favorite dinner table conversation. me, not so much.
we tried that rule with passing gas on my son who is constantly farting & so proud of it. the first weekend with the rule at my inlaws, we were all playing a card game & he would stop & run to the bathroom every few minutes. he'd stand in the doorway & then come back, without saying a word. it was pretty funny,
oh but that must be so entertaining for the fellow bathroom goers! I love it. Hilarious.
Haha! Yes... potty humor... Jovie has learned if she burps the entire dinner table will crack up (excluding mom and dad). So, she has become quite good at it. I think the rule is good.
Yeah gives everyone around a good laugh! Who wouldn't love that?? Ahh... awesome!
haha my kids are NOT going to be allowed to talk about potty stuff.
