5 STAR BOOKS: Male Point of View

I read a lot of books from a female point of view, but the last three have been male point of view & I loved them. Each one is really different, but I enjoyed each one.

WHITE CAT by Holly Black

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. The "blurb" on cover didn't really catch my attention but I tried it out & LOVED IT. It follows Cassell the only non-magic worker in a family of illegal magic workers who are all mobsters and con-men.

I AM NOT A SERIAL KILLER by Dan Wells

I picked because it's was by a local author (in Orem,UT). The book follows a 15 year-old psychopath John Cleaver who follows specific rules to keep the "monster" inside him so he won't become a serial killer, but when a series of murders plagues his small town he sets on a crusade to find out who the killer is and stop him.

THE GRAVEYARD BOOK by Neil Gaimen

I picked up this book because I loved Coraline and it had won a Newbery Medal. I was not disappointed. This middle grade book follows a little boy, Nobody, who wanders into a graveyard after his parents are killed and is raised by the ghosts that inhabit it.

Has anyone read any of these books? What did you think?

No book talk, but yeah that bench I posted is from IKEA, the Norden. The clock is from IKEA too, of course. I want to get two benches and a clock and paint them all red.

Beastly is from a guy's point of view also, and I loved that one too. It's a retelling of Beauty and the Beast in modern times. I thought it was a pretty good book. Just saying in case you wanted another book to read!

They all sound fun. I need some new summer reading.

We read the Graveyard Book for our book group one month and I liked it a lot more once I started seeing all of the parallels to The Jungle Book. Cool, cool.

how did graveyard book turn out? i got about a third done and got bored. which is weird because i usually love gaiman's writing. maybe i was too busy with the hunger games series and didn't give it that much attention.

I haven't read any of these but I loved the "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series, which is told from the POV of a teenage boy. They're fun, easy reads and a great way to learn about Greek mythology.

If you want something a little more literary, "Great Expectations" is also told from a boy's POV and, being Dickens, it's excellent.
