5 STAR BOOK: Hold Me Closer, Necromancer

Seriously folks, I love this book, Hold Me Closer, Necromancer. It follows fry cook, Sam LaCroix, as he finds out he isn't the vegetarian, skateboarder, college drop out that he thought he was, but is in fact a Necromancer (a person who can raise the dead).

The characters are larger than life.
It's scary, then it's hilarious.
The dialogue is quick & witty.
Sam is an UBER reluctant hero (I love reluctant heroes almost as much as I love anti-heroes)
And it all combines into a lovely 343 pages that I didn't want to end. I hope, I hope, I hope there is a sequel.

All this being said, it might not be for everyone. It's a little dark, SUPER quirky (verging on B-rate in a fabulous way), & it might be a little "guy-ish" for those who love the "girl heavy" YA.

I'd be happy to lend you this book if you'd like because I actually now own it. I borrowed it from the library & while reading it in the bathtub, I knocked it in.
Sad for book.
Good for me.

Now I can re-read it again!

I will add it to my hold list! Thanks!

I love that you dropped in the tub. I can't tell you how many times I have almost done that.

curses... books getting wet is the worst. I saw you were reading this somewhere (facebook maybe?)and I was confusing necromancer with necrophilic... and I was like 'wow, what a twisted sounding book'

BIG difference. Sounds like an awesome book! I would be interested to see how they put funny and scary together!

Ok I totally want to borrow it sometime. Especially if you loved it that much because I tend to like the books that you love.

And I'm totally curious on the guy-ish influence of it because I hardly get to read enough of those I think.

As always, great review lady.
