Pursuing Dreams

I was reading my friend Debbie's blog the other day. She does a marriage post every Monday. One particular line from a story in a recent post caught my eye:

"Life can sometimes be difficult, but when we receive positive words, we are encouraged to continue pursuing our dreams."

About a month after Scott's graduation from college he had a dream.

In the dream, it was the end of the world. Hell fire and stones falling from heaven- all that stuff, & in the dream Scott said all he felt was happy. Happiness because he wouldn't have to go to optometry school.

And that's when I realized he couldn't go."But that's the plan. I'm going to take the OAT, go to Optometry school, & go work with my dad. That's the plan" he said.

But if he'd rather have the end of all mankind come, than go to optometry school, well, then we had a problem. We'd just have to come up with a new plan, a new dream.

And we did. He has a great job that he loves, working with people he loves, doing stuff he loves. He comes home from work happy.

And in turn, when I told Scott I wanted to write a novel he said "Alright let's do this thing!" No one is a bigger cheerleader for my writing & sometimes it sucks for him.

I spend hours writing. I cry. I stress. I curse. Sometimes I barely restrain myself from throwing things. Then I keep him up all hours of the night to talk about characters I made up or because I can't sleep from the giddiness of a scene I just wrote.

And there he is with positive words &, when needed, pressure to keep going for my dreams.

My point being that sometimes all someone needs to positive words to go for what they really want.

That & Scott is the BOMB. His birthday was this weekend & we spent it celebrating him & his BOMB-ness. Every single day I think about how lucky I am to have him in my life.
`
The End.
