"The Laughing Heart"

I saw this Levi's commercial on Hulu the other day & was ecstatic that it had one of my favorite American poems in it. It's only a minute long & so lovely- enjoy:

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

-Charles Bukowski

I've never heard that poem, but I love it. I wish I'd been able to give it to Marshall. I think it would have spoken to him.

I love this. It speaks to my current condition perfectly.

hahaha, Linday Jane said what I wanted to say so bad! Great poem! I heard it the other day in the background and by the time I looked I did not know it was a Levi's commercial! So many god bits I want to write on a sticky note and place around my house :)
