I have mentioned the blog "Oh Happy Day" before but I am consistently amazed by her ideas & after a recent post I realized that one of her gift suggestions was perfect for a friend of mine.
A homemade "Leisure Book". Basically a book where you list all sorts of fun stuff to do in your leisure time. I separated it into these sections: Museums & History, Festivals & Fun Stuff, Treats, Outdoors, Restaurants, & Book Recommendations.
You basically buy a pocket sized book & have your awesome husband exacto knife it into sections:
Then you do a TON of research on cool, random stuff to do in the area. I also utilized Facebook & my totally cool friends to give suggestions on places
(and book suggestions):
Then I organized & scaled everything in Word so it will fit in the book & finally glued it all in.
(I typed it up & printed it so I could include pictures, maps, etc. but it's not necessary if you have good handwriting you could just write it all in):I also bought a bunch of small denomination giftcards to a bunch of the local places
(and B&N for the book recommendation section- my fav section) for her to try out:
It ended up being a fun gift & I actually found out a lot of fun new stuff locally I'd like to try out. It would also be an awesome gift for someone who has just moved into town!

Wow! Soo great! I want a book like that! Actually that would be a great gift to myself whenever I move somewhere new. Ha.
