REVIEW: Anna Dressed in Blood

You guys, Anna Dressed in Bloodis not for the faint of heart. But if your heart can take or maybe enjoys some gore & being freaked out then you will love this ride.

What I loved about this book:
- It's scary, really scary, & I don't scare easily.
- The main character is Cas who is a ghost killer (he kills ghosts who are harming people) is a realistic male in YA (sometimes a rare find).
- It's witty, fast paced, fun dialogue.
- The characters feel really real & fleshed out so well.
- My favorite part, the writing, felt spot on.

What You Need to be Warned About:
- It's gory to the max & I can handle my gore. This is like "rip-people-in-half" gore.
- It's not as much as "love" story as the covers quote "Spellbinding & Romantic" would lead you to believe. There's like kind of a love story but it's wrapped in a burrito or gore & ghosts.
- It's NOT for Young Adults, in my opinion. Obviously the "powers that be" that are in change of publishing marketed it as YA but it's gruesome & has a smattering of f-bombs too.

Here is just a taste of the writing:
- “I peek over the back of the couch and there she is, my goddess of death, her hair snaking out in a great black cloud, her teeth grinding hard enough to make living gums bleed.”
AND
-“I’m staring at Anna’s house again. The logical part of my brain tells me that it’s just a house. That it’s what’s inside that makes it horrifying, that makes it dangerous, that it can’t possibly be tilting toward me like it’s hunting me through the overgrowth of weeds. It can’t possibly be trying to jerk free of its foundation and swallow me whole. But that’s what it looks like it’s doing.”

Am I the only horror fan out there?
Has anyone else read this?
What did you think?

i haven't read it. . .but noticed last week the kindle version is on sale for 2.99. i'm wondering if you would like angelfall by susan ee (cybil award nominee 2011). it gets a bit gory and crazy--but i stayed up all night reading it. it was like reading a movie for me.

I've read it and I loved it. I thought it was great. I think young adults could handle it. I think it solely depends on the young adult. The language is something they hear every day all day at school, so to me that's a moot point. But, the gore, some young adults get off on that. I don't think a lot of adults could handle this, so ....

Sounds great! When I was a teen I was a huge fan of R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. This looks right up my alley.
