Shirts & a Show

So, my wonderful sis-in-law, Kristal, is skilled (she crochets, she sews, & she is a photographer) & she agreed to give me a tutorial on using my Yudu Screen Printer. I've had it for a while but haven't done anything because I've been too freaked out to try it.

So, Scott & I put our designing heads together & made a quick design for a Hunger Games shirt- I'm a big fan. They aren't anything innovative or interesting but we were pressed for time. Then Kristal & I spent the day printing them. It was rushed (they were designed & printed in 24 hours) but it sure was fun!

Tonight we went to the movie- a friend of ours rented a theater for an early screening. I won't say anything more than I loved the movie. It was harder to watch the violence then read it but I felt like it wasn't terribly gratuitous & it stayed as true to the book as a movie could.

And tell me I don't have THE BOMB HUSBAND who not only wore his "District 12" shirt with me to the movie, but also all day at work. I sure do love that fellow.

For those who have seen it, what did you think?

MockingJay

Last minute I talked my fabulous freshman year college roommate Lisa (who was SUCH a great partner & made me laugh till I thought I'd pee) to go Powell's Bookstore for the midnight release of Mockingjay.

The line was crazy long, but we were entertained by the very dressed up bookstore workers (dressed as crazy "capital" people- you understand if you've read the book) while they walked around handing out rope for tying knots, trivia, & buttons.

Once we got inside it was a sight to behold: A cornucopia spilling hundreds of copies of Mockingjay, tons of camping equipment set up, & even a couple dead bodies strew around (yes, it was disturbing).

And I am such a great wife, that I'm waiting on reading it until Scott & I can listen to it on our drive home from Cali this weekend. Has anyone out there started it yet? Eek! I'm excited!

New Moon DVD release party

Lay & I trekked out to Wal-Mart in Riverton on Friday night for the midnight release of the New Moon DVD (last year we went to the same WalMart to see "Victoria" speak)

The actors Justin Chon (Eric), Michael Welch (Mike) and Christian Serratos (Angela)- the human friends of Bella- came to talk, meet people, etc.

They had yum treats & a gazillion dollars worth of New Moon products (seriously, they must be raking in the dough).

It was crazy crowded- like thousands up on thousands of people. But with all the excitement & comradeship we had a BLAST!

TWILIGHT: the MOVIE

I had a BLAST going to go see the Twilight movie on Friday. My mother-in-law & sis-in-law flew in for it & we had a fun group of girls in our homemade match-y t-shirts. Each one had a different quote & I forgot how many GREAT ones there are from the book.

I'm not going to give anything away about the movie for those of you waiting for the frenzy to die down before seeing it. But I did go in with LOW expectations & I ended up liking it quite a bit.

Although: 1. A few moments were supposed to be serious but were kind of funny, 2. Whoa- & a few CGI moments were terrible, & 3. The cheese factor was HIGH in a couple spots (but, let's all be honest, so is the book). But all in all, it was romantic & better than I thought it would be.

Chips & salsa afterward was the perfect capper to the night. We had SO MUCH FUN! And they are making the next movie, New Moon!

For those of you who HAVE seen it, what did you think?

Breaking Dawn Release Party

We had SUCH a good time at the Breaking Dawn release party. This is right up my ally- I love stuff like this. We got a great group of girls together (Es, Lay, Cindy, Linds,& Becca) & went.

We made matching shirts (for anyone who doesn't know FORKS is the name of the town where the book takes place, Cullen & Black are the last names of the 2 boys in the book the main character has to choose from. And Switzerland is a quote from the book where she chooses not to choose- yes, I am the ONLY one that likes Jacob Black!)
They had a "Great Debate" about what would happen in this last book, a trivia contest (Lay & I tied), & previews from the movie.

It was SO crowded & we were SO glad that we waited early in the morning to get a bracelet. We were #77, the people who came in the afternoon were #500, & the people who came at night were #800. Woo-Hoo! But, now we have the book!

Stephenie Meyer Book Signing

I know, I know... a little nerdy... a Stephenie Meyer book signing? but I love her books! My friends Malea, Cindy, Kristal, & I went in the evening & stayed until 11 pm or so. We listened to her speak & then had her sign our books. It was actually A LOT of fun- just sitting & chatting with friends, talking about the books. Basically, it was an evening of girl time.

Don't judge how awful I look... it was late & I am fighting off a cold. Plus Syd & Rob were with us for the first hour & it almost put me over the edge!

Tagged: a few things about me...

My old roommate and good friend Alicia tagged me. I'm trying to think of things that people might not know about me since everything is pretty much in my blog- it would be easy to say I love cake plates and cupcakes and hate going to bed- but you all know that. So, here we go...

1. I absolutely love... SO MANY THINGS! but I really love my marriage. There are lots of crazy things in my life but one thing that is solid is Scott. Thank goodness! I take care of him completely and he takes care of me- we put a lot of energy into watching out for each other.
2. I don't care if... I live in a place that has 4 seasons. If I could live somewhere that was warm all the time I'd be happy. I love fall & sweaters but I think I'd be happy celebrating Christmas when it's 71 degrees outside.
3. I like to... to stand in line for midnight releases- books or movies. I never did it until I met Scott. He taught me that movies coming out & such are events. So, we've waited in line for the midnight release of Harry Potter books, big blockbuster movies, & Nintendo Wii. It's SO MUCH FUN- the anticipation & exhaustion (makes you deliriously excited!)
4. I play... Settlers of Catan- do you guys know that game? I LOVE IT! And play it whenever I can find people that want to play it with me. Scott's a master at it too! If you haven't played you can come on over and the Carter's will teach you.
5. I have a horrible habit of... arriving late to EVERYTHING! Any friend of mine can tell you that they've waited for me many times. I've tried to get better: set clocks ahead, trick myself into thinking events are at earlier times- Nothing seems to work!
6. I love to... chat with extended family. And since I am an only child, my bestfriends are basically my sisters. I could just sit & talk with family (mine or Scott's) and it's the best time ever!
